Bamboo: 5 Reasons Why We Love It for Sustainable Products

Whether you are a recurring customer or you're just strolling our website. You will have noticed that we offer a variety of products made of bamboo. Today, we want to introduce 5 reasons, why we love bamboo for our products and why it is a good choice for a more sustainable world.

1. Bamboo is an amazing material with endless areas of application

Let us start with the most obvious reason: From kitchen brushes to toothbrushes, and even as garment (e.g., for makeup removal pads) bamboo makes a great material and can replace other wood or cotton for almost any use. It is durable, water repellent, antimicrobial, dries quickly, and is easy to process.

2. Bamboo grows incredibly fast

In fact, bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet. It grows up to 3 feet per day. When harvested, bamboo is cut down like other trees. The big, big difference is that it regrows on the same plant and can be harvested repeatedly, which makes it an incredibly sustainable source of wood.

3. Bamboo plants are oxygen powerhouses

Research shows that bamboo produces 35% more oxygen than trees. Together with their significant growth rate, bamboo forests can play an important role in carbon reduction efforts.

4. Bamboo is the camel of plants

While its fast growth is well known by most, bamboo has another trait that often gets overlooked. It could play a critical role in providing clean drinking water to communities. Bamboo can store water from the rainy season in its cells for multiple weeks and can act as a reservoir for both soil and people during droughts.

5. Bamboo farming changed the live of many people for the better

Many communities in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia have benefited from the recent boom in bamboo farming. It can provide a livelihood for poor regions, while acting as a sustainable resource for a multitude of products.
