An unexpected and shocking sighting, considering between 100 and 150 of these sea creatures generally grace the Chennai beaches each year for their nesting vacation.

All seems to be business as usual - female turtles waddling ashore to lay eggs and the males keeping watch in the water. However, this year, the visit seems to have gone awry, with a larger group including many male specimens not making it back into the sea. Initial observations suggest that suffocation and drowning may have caused their premature vacation end.

No adventure is complete without a riddle. In this case, the mass turtle deaths hint at potential involvement of net fishing.
