Specks of Sustainability: Persisting With the National Nature Assessment:
Once upon a time, under the Biden administration, more than 150 scientists worked together for countless hours to create a pioneer report aiming to evaluate the state of nature in the U.S., known as the National Nature Assessment. However, before they could complete their work, President Trump terminated the project via an executive order, putting the report on hold.
A Ray of Determination Amidst Gloom:
Not all hope is lost! Dr. Phil Levin, the environmental scientist leading the project, is no quitter. He firmly believes the report is too crucial to be left unfinished and intends to find ways to bring it to completion, despite the setback. Dr. Levin and his team hope to find ways to finish and publish the report outside the government domain. Howard Frumkin, one of the authors of the report, who is also a professor emeritus of environmental science at the University of Washington School of Public Health, shares Dr. Levin's sentiment and determination.
